The NIOS this year has secured some excellent speakers for its 2017 Conference to be held on Saturday, 21 October and Sunday, 22 October 2017 in the luxurious surroundings of the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa, Newcastle.
Nestling at the foot of the Mountains of Mourne, the Slieve Donard Resort and Spa stands in six acres of immaculate private grounds. Situated 30 miles south of Belfast and 90 miles north of Dublin, there is no better venue to bring you to the heart of Northern Ireland’s County Down coastline, with stunning panoramic views of the Mountains of Mourne.
Conference presenters will include Dr Michael Williams (Consultant Ophthalmologist, Belfast Health & Social Care Trust), Dr David Edgar (Consultant Immunologist, RVH) and Prof Kathryn Saunders PhD, FCOptom (Professor of Optometry and Vision Science, University of Ulster, Coleraine).
A Workshop Programme will be delivered by Mr Patrick Richardson BSc Hon, MCOptom, AFHEA (Lecturer Optometry Clinic Manager, School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Ulster), Dr Karen Breslin (Lecturer in Optometry, School of Biomedical Sciences, University of Ulster) and Ms Rukhsana McCann (Specialist Orthoptist).

The Slieve Donard Spa facilities rival any other Spa in Europe. Less than ten miles away lie the delights of Downpatrick, home to St Patrick’s Visitor Centre and Grave (a world Christian Heritage Site) and countless opportunities for horse riding, fishing, sailing, off-road driving, mountaineering and windsurfing.
